The Era of Megafires

August 30th at 7 p.m.
Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center
Evening hosted by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust

megafiresThe Era of Megafires is a 60-minute, multi-media, traveling presentation hosted by Dr. Paul Hessburg and North 40 productions.  Hessburg draws on his 27 years of conducting fire and landscape ecology research for the Pacific Northwest Research Station and the University of Washington to deliver a fast-moving, short, topic-based conversation interspersed with compelling video vignettes. As the kickoff event for the Wenatchee Valley Environmental Film Series, the museum is the first stop for this presentation expected to make appearances in venues throughout the Northwest.

The Wildfire Project is part of a community effort to educate people and hopefully shift societal views regarding wildfires, said project organizer Sara Rolfs. “Our project focuses on how we as a society can shift our cultural views about fire and learn to embrace it as inevitable and crucial to the health of our landscapes. We are hoping we can help people learn to co-exist with fire more peacefully through learning, adapting and acting proactively.”

This is the 16th annual environmental film series, exploring topics important to our community. All films are presented at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center. They are free (with a suggested donation of $5) and open to all. Invite your friends! Thanks to our co-sponsors for helping make these monthly screenings possible. Series sponsors are The Trust for Public Land, Wenatchee River Institute and Chelan-Douglas Land Trust.
