MLK, Jr. Multicultural Fest: City of Wenatchee Awards
In celebration of our Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Fest, held annual on this date for 18 years, we are excited to share with you a virtual presentation of the City of Wenatchee’s Civil Rights & Social Justice Awards. Watch to see the presentation of the awards by Mayor Frank Kuntz.
The Civil Rights & Social Justice Award was presented to Dr. Mabel Bodell, for Dr. Bodell’s efforts in creating educational content that helped disseminate information to the Latinx community about COVID-19. Dr. Bodell’s Spanish language videos have over 12,000 views providing accessible information to the Latinx community which was impacted disproportionally by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Civil Rights & Social Justice Awards was presented to the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center for initiating and moderating the Social Justice Video Series, in both English and Spanish, which convened a community panel to discuss social justice issues such as dismantling racism in education, affordable housing, diversity in the outdoors, health disparities and COVID-19, and a forum on race, with over 2,000 views combined.
We are honored to be an award recipient alongside Dr. Mabel Bodell.
