Beat the Heat at the Museum!
The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center and NCW Arts Alliance invites you to this collaborative workshop series featuring regional artists and educators.
Try your hand at a variety of creative mediums this summer, delving into the art of Japanese calligraphy, paper crafting, and painting. These courses are for ages 16+ and are great for all skill levels – beginners welcome!
On Saturday, August 17, 1-3 PM, learn the art of Shodo 書道, or Japanese calligraphy, with Wenatchee Valley College professor Junko Bailey. Bailey has been working with sumi ink since the age of 6, eventually obtaining her second-degree master’s certification in Japanese calligraphy. Through this workshop, students will explore fundamental brush techniques and gain appreciation for the aesthetic and traditions of Shodo.
This workshop costs $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Members of either WVMCC or NCW Arts Alliance are eligible for member pricing. Registration is required.
Patrons registering for 3 or more classes are eligible for a 10% discount. Call our front desk at (509)-888-6240 for the discount or to join our waitlist.
