SUMMARY:Super Summer Adventure Camps: Session 7
DESCRIPTION:Updated guidance from the Washington State Department of Health allows for the reopening of child and youth programming\, allowing our summer camp program to run\, following health guidelines including social distancing\, masks\, sanitization\, and limiting capacity. The health and wellness of our campers\, visitors\, members\, staff\, and community are our top priority. We are excited to offer summer camp for students entering the 2nd – 6th grades in the Fall of 2020. Go beyond origami in this camp about creating at with paper. Learn how to combine your paper creations with wiring to create light up cards and more. Fold\, cut\, color and wire to light up\, play music\, twinkle or move! \nGrades 4-6: Fiber Arts\nFrom hi-tech to historical\, stretch your creativity by immersing yourself in the amazing world of fiber art. Try your hand at a new craft with an amazing variety of manmade and natural fibers. \nAfternoon (12:30 – 3:30 PM)\nGrades 2-3: Earth Art\nCampers will explore nature through the lens of an artist in this camp!  They will learn about nature artists\, develop an innovative approach to creating art\, and present and share their creative expression.  This class will be a unique experience for students to understand that art surrounds them in all places. \nGrades 4-6: Atomic Art\nAre you artistic and love science? Join us for a week of art solely based on principles of science. SUMMARY:Social Justice Series: Health Disparities and COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Racial and economic disparities in health care are known factors contributing to higher morbidity and mortality among those with lower income\, and black\, indigenous\, and people of color (BIPOC)\, as compared to white Americans. These disparities have a dual impact – not only are they resulting in differences in the actual care and treatment that COVID-19 patients receive\, but they also put people in BIPOC communities at higher risk of contracting COVID-19 in the first place. Join a panel of local community members on Friday\, August 7 at 12 PM on Zoom and from the Museum’s Facebook page on Facebook Live.
