DESCRIPTION:Join us for this documentary of the stories of the Wenatchee Tribe through the legends\, history\, and geology of North Central Washington as told by Randy Lewis\, and captured by North Central Washington film students. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaptivating young minds\, creating storytellers for the future\nThe Winter’s Tale is a directed film study program reaching across the Wenatchee Valley and across cultures. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis project takes its name from a time-honored practice when\, in the deep of winter\, a tribal elder would gather the young people around and begin to tell a story\, a story about the land\, about the powers of the animals roaming through it and about the relationship of the people to it all. These stories would unfold over not just hours\, but over a period of days\, delivered with a sense of poetry\, a cadence that captivated the young listeners and imprinted on them deeply\, connecting them to the land and to their own heritage in ways that would remain with them their entire lives\, and ultimately would be told again in the deep of winter to the generations not yet born. \nThese stories exist still today and it is the purpose of this project to capture them in a form that can captivate the modern young mind. Through native storyteller Randy Lewis it is possible still to connect our youth to the lands\, to imbue them with a sense of awe\, wonder and respect. DESCRIPTION:Explore culturally significant locations from the Peshastin Pinnacles to the Wenatchee Heights with Native American guide Randy Lewis during a day-long bus tour Saturday\, September 28th. \nTour-goers will meet at the Wenatchee Valley Museum to board a tour bus that departs at 9 a.m. for the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers. The tour continues with stops at Peshastin Pinnacles\, the Cashmere Museum\, and Lake Wenatchee. Please plan to bring your lunch. \nRandy Lewis grew up with a strong understanding and sense of place within Native American Columbia Plateau indigenous society. Lewis traces his roots to the Wenatchi band. Lewis’ enthusiasm for the history of his people\, the stories of his ancestors\, and their relation to the surrounding landscape comes from a hope for deeper understanding and respect of ancient cultures. \nThis event has been canceled due to illness. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an interactive Murder Mystery Dinner on Thursday\, September 26th at 6:00 p.m. You are a passenger on the luxurious Oriental Express. Your fellow passengers number several unsavory characters\, almost certainly up to no good. You don’t know who you can trust. You hope to make it through the last leg of the trip alive. Unexpectedly\, the train is snowed in and one of the passengers is murdered.  Fortunately\, a famed detective is on board; the identity of the murderer should be discovered by the time the police arrive. \nTickets are $45 for Museum members and $55 for non-members. The event will be held in the Museum’s Performance Hall. \nRegistration is at capacity for our Murder Mystery dinner on Sept 26. We plan to host another Murder Mystery dinner soon.
