SUMMARY:Courage in Corsets: Women's Suffrage in Washington
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with our featured exhibit Raising our Voice: Empowering Women\, we are partnering with Dangerous Women for a virtual discussion of the documentary Courage In Corsets on January 19 at 7 PM. The KSPS produced documentary Courage In Corsets tells the story of the women whose personal courage\, political savvy and sheer tenacity won the vote for all women in Washington. It is the story of women of all races\, creeds and economic status who struggled together to improve the quality of life for themselves and their communities; who convinced men of the benefits of women’s voting rights; and who brought new life to the national campaign. \n Dangerous Women is a diverse collective of local female artists who bring forgotten or repressed histories of women to life on stage with a goal to empower all people.  \nRegistration is by donation. After registering you will receive an email with a link to preview the film at your leisure and a confirmation email with a Zoom link to join us virtually for a Q&A Session with Dangerous Women on Tuesday\, January 19 from 7 – 8 PM. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Made in Wenatchee - Gelato Tasting Event with Ice at Pybus Market
DESCRIPTION:Join the Wenatchee Valley Museum to taste and savor gelato from Ice Visconti at Pybus Public Market. This virtual gelato tasting will take place on January 27th at 6 PM. \nThe tasting includes three gelato flavors: Panna (Sweet Cream)\, Chocolate and Lemon Sorbetto. \nICE Visconti prepares authentic Italian style gelato daily on location. Gelato is a popular frozen dessert of Italian origin. Like ice cream\, gelato is made from milk and served in a dish or cone. Because gelato is made with whole milk rather than heavy cream\, kept at a higher temperature\, mixed with less air\, and cooked before freezing\, you’ll enjoy a dessert that is lighter\, smoother\, fresher\, lower in calories and more flavorful. Sorbetto is made with sweetened juice\, fruit puree\, or water\, and is dairy and egg-free. \nRegister here:  61981.blackbaudhosting.com/61981/Made-in-Wenatchee—Gelato-Tasting. \nRegistration is $30 and each registrant will receive three – 8-ounce containers of gelato and the opportunity to participate in the live Zoom tasting.  Simply bring your confirmation email and pick up your gelato from Ice Visconti’s location at Pybus Public Market at 3 North Worthen Street in Wenatchee on January 27th during their regular business hours. \nYou will also later receive an email with the Zoom code and instructions for joining the webinar. \nA portion of the proceeds benefits the Wenatchee Valley Museum.

SUMMARY:Environmental Film & Speaker Series: Voices of Transition
DESCRIPTION:Join us in viewing the documentary Voices of Transition\, and participate in a follow-up Zoom Q&A Sessions with a local panel on Tuesday\, February 2 at 7 PM. \nPowered by the conviction that crisis can be a major catalyst for change\, Voices of Transition present paths towards a new model of human existence: one which is fair\, environmentally sound and fulfilling\, with soil and people supporting each other in a balanced and sustainable system. In England\, France and Cuba\, we meet committed communities who are successfully establishing local\, autonomous\, ecological food systems and\, in so doing\, are taking back control of their food supplies from multinational corporations. \nThe stories told by these diverse Voices of Transition carry an emboldening message: by working more closely with nature\, we can create incredible opportunities. SUMMARY:Made in Wenatchee - Cider Tasting Event with Union Hill Cider Co.
DESCRIPTION:Join us online for Made in Wenatchee: Cider Tasting Event with Union Hill Cider Co. on April 14th at 7 PM. Taste a variety of hard cider from Union Hill Cider Co. in East Wenatchee. \nUnion Hill is a collection of orchardists\, cider fanatics\, friends\, and family\, combining their skills and love of apples to make the best cider and are focused on bringing out the unique characteristics of traditional cider apples to shine in each of their products. \nDrew Handley\, Union Hill Co-owner and Cidermaker\, and Katja Handley\, Union Hill Co-owner\, will walk us through this tasting.  The apple industry in the valley already has such a rich history and their family farms have been here for over 50 years.  Learn about the boom in the cider industry and their transition into it as well as the ins and outs of cider in general. \nThe ciders for this tasting include their new Cosmic Rosé.  A union of Cosmic and Red Fleshed apples grown in Quincy and East Wenatchee on their estate orchards. Intense flavors matured in the harsh arid climate of central Washington. Flavorful and rosé in color. All colors and flavors are derived only from the apples. No additives just apples. A true rosé in the desert. \nBarrel Aged – A union of Cripps Pink\, Porter’s Perfection and Snowdrift Crab apples aged for at least 8 months in red wine barrels. \nHard Harvest Cider – A union of Cripps Pink\, Dabinett\, Porters Perfection\, Kingston Black and Snowdrift Crab apples. This traditional cider made with their favorite heritage apple varieties gives the perfect tannin forward\, medium-bodied cider to please both the new and experienced cider drinker. Complex notes of kiwi and tree-ripe fruit with a satisfying full finish. \nYour tasting kit will include a 500 ML bottles of each of these unique hard ciders. \nThe cost of this event is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.  You must be 21 to participate. \nClick here to register:61981.blackbaudhosting.com/61981/Made-in-Wenatchee \nBring your email receipt to the Wenatchee Valley Museum to pick up your tasting kit beginning on Tuesday\, April 13th.  We are located at 127 S. Mission Street and are open from 10 am – 4 pm. The Zoom link will come in a separate email.

SUMMARY:Environmental Film & Speaker Series: Promised Land
DESCRIPTION:Join us and our partner/film sponsor the Wenatchee River Institute in viewing the documentary Promised Land and participate in a follow-up Zoom Q&A Sessions on Tuesday\, April 27 at 7 PM. The panel discussion with members of the p’squosa (Wenatchi) band leadership will discuss topics brought up in the Promised Land film. \nPromised Land is an award-winning social justice documentary that follows two tribes in the Pacific Northwest: the Duwamish and the Chinook\, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights they’ve long been denied. In following their story\, the film examines a larger problem in the way that the government and society still looks at tribal sovereignty. \nPromised Land debuted in select theaters fall 2016. It won the award for Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking at the 10th Annual LA Skins Fest and was an official selection for the 41st Annual American Indian Film Festival\, Northwest Film Forum’s 19th Annual Local Sightings Film Festival\, the 12th Annual Ellensburg Film Festival\, and the 5th Annual Social Justice Film Festival\, among others. \nRegistration is by donation. After registering you will receive an email with a link to preview the film at your leisure and join us virtually for a Q&A Session with a local panel on Tuesday\, April 27 from 7 – 8 PM. \n  \nREGISTER HERE \n  \nSpecial thanks to our sponsor: The Wenatchee River Institute (WRI) believes the greatest hope for the future is through connecting people\, communities and the natural world.  They engage thousands of learners annually through transformative environmental education on their campus in Leavenworth and across North Central Washington.  Each experience is created to help participants understand their environment and discover the impact they can have in the world and their community. \n \n  \nThis film is a part of the Wenatchee Valley Museum’s Environmental Film & Speaker Series. Sponsorship support from foundations\, community sponsorships\, and individual giving allows us to offer these programs free to the community. This series helps connect our community to the world around us\, raise awareness of issues impacting the environment upon which we all depend\, and identify actions our community can take to improve and sustain our world and our Valley. \nPlease consider supporting the Wenatchee Valley Museum by joining us as a member and donor. Your support makes possible the programs\, exhibits\, and preservation of our local history that is an essential part of our community. Learn more at: https://www.wenatcheevalleymuseum.org/donate/
