SUMMARY:A Night At The Museum - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel our annual fundraising event\, Night at the Museum\, scheduled for May 30. Thank you for all your support of the Wenatchee Valley Museum. We stand together with our cultural partners\, public agencies\, and civic and community partners to slow the spread of COVID-19 and support the efforts to do what is necessary and effective to stem the outbreak.\n\nWe look forward to gathering with you to celebrate arts and culture in our community as soon as we are safely able.\n\nThis is a challenging time for you\, for Wenatchee\, and for your Museum. As a ticket holder to a canceled event\, there is a simple and powerful way you can help your Museum continue bringing great programs and events to our community through this crisis and beyond: by donating the value of your tickets.\n\nNow\, more than ever\, we need your support to sustain your Museum through this unprecedented time. If you hold tickets to this event and are willing and able to donate their value to the Museum we thank you. Alternatively\, you can get a refund for your tickets to Night at the Museum by emailing info@wvmcc.org\, but it would mean so much to us if you would turn back your tickets as a donation instead. Donated tickets are treated as a tax-deductible contribution. The Wenatchee Valley Museum is a community-supported 501(c)(3) organization.\n\nIf we don’t hear from you by May 31 we will assume you have generously opted to convert the price of your ticket to a donation to the Museum.\n\nThank you for your support!\n\n\n\n\n\nDon’t miss this unforgettable night out!\nThe Museum’s signature fundraiser will feature four experiences in one: a fun brewery/cider house\, a relaxing coffeehouse\, a speakeasy\, and a wine bar. Each space showcases delicious gourmet food from the Garden Grille and Bar; sweets treats from Cafe Columbia\, award-winning wines\, great beers\, ciders\, distilled spirits\, and fun live music. Tickets are $50 for museum members\, $60 for non-members. SUMMARY:Quincy Basin Geology Tour - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:GUEST HEALTH & SAFETY UPDATE: To ensure that the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center remains a safe\, secure\, and welcoming space for all our visitors\, our staff is closely following the recommendations of the Chelan-Douglas Health District and State of Washington regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). Due to restrictions on large gatherings we are postponing  this event. We are working to find a new date for this event\, and will communicate this date as soon as possible. \n\nThe decision to postpone was not made lightly. In the end\, the health and safety of the community was paramount in our decision. We hope you understand that the museum staff and board believes this is the right decision for the safety of our community. \nIf you have questions about how COVID-19 may affect upcoming programs at the Museum\, please call us at (509) 888-6240 or email us at info@wvmcc.org. \n\nIce Age Floods using the Grand Coulee and the Upper Crab Creek drainages\, filled the Quincy Basin at a rate up to 16.5 million cubic meters of water per second. This tour\, led by Ken Lacy\, explores the incredible erosive consequences of the floodwaters escaping the Quincy Basin\, via Lynch\, Potholes and Frenchman Springs Coulees. The tour will also examine the eight mile wide Drumheller Channels\, through which most of the Quincy Basin floodwaters drained largely down the Lower Crab Creek drainage\, toward the Columbia River at Beverly\, Washington. \nTour goers will meet at the Wenatchee Valley Museum to board a tour bus that will depart at 9 a.m. \nTickets are $50 for Museum members and $55 for non-members. Please bring your lunch unless otherwise notified. \nBuy your tickets today!

SUMMARY:Environmental Film Series: The Story of Plastic Q&A Session
DESCRIPTION:Environmental Film Series: The Story of Plastic Q&A Session \n \nYou’re invited to view the “The Story of Plastic”\, and participate in a follow-up Zoom Q&A Session with Jana Fishback\, Executive Director of Sustainable Wenatchee on Tuesday\, July 28 from 7 – 8 PM. Click here: 61981.blackbaudhosting.com/61981/Online-Film to register and a link to the film will be sent to you. Preview the film at your leisure and join us for a Q&A Session with local plastics experts on Tuesday\, July 28 from 7 – 8 PM.  Get your questions answered and learn how you can change the way we make\, use\, and throw away plastic to help improve the sustainability and health of our community. \n“The Story of Plastic” takes a sweeping look at the man-made crisis of plastic pollution and the worldwide effect it has on the health of our planet and the people who inhabit it. Spanning three continents\, the film illustrates the ongoing catastrophe: fields full of garbage\, veritable mountains of trash\, rivers and seas clogged with waste\, and skies choked with the poisonous emissions from plastic production and processing. “The Story of Plastic” features interviews with experts and activists on the front lines of the fight\, revealing the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world\, and the global movement that is rising up in response. With engaging original animation\, archival industry footage beginning in the 1930s\, and first-person accounts of the unfolding emergency\, the film distills a complex problem that is increasingly affecting the planet’s and its residents’ well-being. \nSpecial thanks to our sponsor: Sustainable Wenatchee\, a 501(c)3 non-profit that works to promote a culture of environmental stewardship and social sustainability in North Central Washington. \nThis film is a part of the Wenatchee Valley Museum’s Environmental Film & Speaker Series. Sponsorship support from foundations\, community sponsorships\, and individual giving allows us to offer these programs free to the community. This series helps connect our community to the world around us\, raise awareness of issues impacting the environment upon which we all depend\, and identify actions our community can take to improve and sustain our world and our Valley. \nPlease consider supporting the Wenatchee Valley Museum by joining us as a member and donor. Your support makes possible the programs\, exhibits\, and preservation of our local history that is an essential part of our community. Learn more at: https://www.wenatcheevalleymuseum.org/donate/
