SUMMARY:MakerSpace to-go: DIY Spa Kit
DESCRIPTION:Join us at home to create a spa kit! This kit will include the instructions and supplies to make lavender scented chapstick\, bath bombs\, and lotion bars using natural ingredients such as beeswax\, coconut oil\, and shea butter. Treat yourself to a wonderful\, calming spa day or gift it to a loved one this holiday season. Registrants will work with the Museum to pick up supply boxes. The cost of each box is $30 members; $35 non-members and all proceeds support the Museum. Deadline to register is Friday\, November 27 at 12 PM. \nREGISTER HERE \nSupply pick up \nSupplies are available for pick up at the museum. We will work with each registrant individually to schedule a contactless pick up. Once you pick up your kit\, you will receive the link to the instructional video. \nKit includes enough supplies to make 2 bath bombs\, 2 lotion bars\, and 2 chapsticks. These are estimates and are dependent on the size of product you make. \nSupply Buyback Program \nDue to the unique nature of these virtual MakerSpace programs\, we are now offering a supply buyback program. Should there be any supplies in your kits that you don’t think you will be using again you can contact the Museum and we will accept the item(s) back into the MakerSpace inventory and give you a $5 credit for your next MakerSpace to-go program!

DESCRIPTION:Local history comes alive with the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center with our annual People of Our Past program. This educational series showcases actors dressed up as historic figures from Wenatchee Valley history. This year\, we celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage by highlighting formative women in our community. \n\n\nElsie Parrish: tenacious chambermaid who sued the owners of the Cascadian Hotel over unpaid wages. In 1913\, she convinced the U.S. Supreme Court to establish a minimum wage for women. Join her in 1939 to hear her tale. (Elsie Parrish is portrayed by Amy Edwards.)\n\n\nDr. Minnie Simmons: Wenatchee’s first female doctor. Join her in 1945 to hear about her practice and how Wenatchee welcomed its first female healthcare provider. (Dr. Minnie Simmons is played by Kristy Clare.)\n\nEva Anderson: prominent local educator. She also served as Douglas County School Superintendent\, President of the Washington Education Association\, and Dean of Girls at Wenatchee High School. Join her in 1952 at a speech she prepared for a group in Chelan. (Eva Anderson is portrayed by Julie Kuntz.)\n\n\nBernice Bacharach: a feisty attorney. She was the first and for a long time\, the only female member of the Chelan County Bar Association. Join her in 1988 to hear about her recent case. The KSPS produced documentary Courage In Corsets tells the story of the women whose personal courage\, political savvy and sheer tenacity won the vote for all women in Washington. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Zoom presentation of “Canoeing the Vanishing Arctic: Down the Hood River to the Arctic Sound” on Tuesday\, February 23 at 7 PM. This presentation by Andy Dappen details a canoe trip that local Wenatchee residents embarked on in order to explore the rapidly-changing Arctic. Create one colorful\, illuminating lantern by following along with our instructional video. This project is the perfect family activity and a great way to play around with color! \nCost is $10 members\, $15 non-members.
