On September 2\, join us at the Museum at 6:30 PM for a presentation by Randy Dasho on the Wellington Train Disaster\, the deadliest avalanche in North Amercian history. Meet us at the Wells House\, on the Wenatchee Valley College Campus\, to see the recently donated steamer trunk used by Mr. and Mrs. AZ Wells for their world travels. \nRandy Dasho will also lead a guided tour to the avalanche site on Saturday\, September 3. SUMMARY:Environmental Film & Speaker Series: Eating our Way to Extinction
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, September 8 at 7 PM  as we partner with Wenatchee Confluence Rotary Club for our Environmental Film and Speaker Series to show “Eating our way to Extinction.” This film takes audiences on a cinematic journey around the world\, from the depths of the Amazon rainforests to the Taiwanese Mountains\, the Mongolian desert\, the US Dust Bowl\, the Norwegian Fjords and the Scottish coastlines\, telling the story of our planet through shocking testimonials\, poignant accounts from Indigenous people most affected by our ever-changing planet\, globally renowned figures and leading scientists. \nOur 21st annual Environmental Film & Speaker Series explores topics important to our community by connecting us to the world around us\, raising awareness of issues impacting the environment upon which we all depend\, and identifying actions our community can take to impove and sustain our Valley. These family-friendly films are offered by donation to the Museum. SUMMARY:Native Heritage Tours with Randy Lewis
DESCRIPTION:The Plateau Through Native American Eyes \nSeptember 10\, 2022 – Take a tour of Dry Falls like no other.  Randy Lewis will discuss the cultural significance of this area. \nSeptember 24\, 2022 –  Randy Lewis will lead a tour of the Frenchman’s Coulee and Vantage area.  These locations are rich with Native American history. \nOctober 15\, 2022 –   Explore culturally significant locations starting with the Peshastin Pinnacles and heading up the Icicle with Native American guide Randy Lewis. \nTour-goers will meet at the Wenatchee Valley Museum to board a tour bus that departs at 9 AM and will return by 3 PM. Please bring a lunch\, plenty of water\, and wear good walking shoes. \nRandy Lewis grew up with a strong understanding and sense of place within Native American Columbia Plateau indigenous society. Lewis traces his roots to the Wenatchi band. Lewis’ enthusiasm for the history of his people\, the stories of his ancestors\, and their relation to the surrounding landscape comes from a hope for a deeper understanding and respect of ancient cultures. \nThere are 3 tours in the Native Heritage Series\, you do not need to register for all 3.    The member cost is $65/per tour or $165 for all 3 tours.   The non-member price is $100/tour.  For more information about these tours or to become a member please check our website\, WenatcheeValleyMuseum.org. \nREGISTER HERE
