PNW Treasures: Stories in Stone Caravan Tour with Randy Lewis

June 6 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Discover Ancient Wonders with Randy Lewis

Join us on an unforgettable caravan-style field trip for adults, led by local Native Historian Randy Lewis, beginning at the Wanapum Heritage Center. Here, Randy will introduce the stories, teachings, and living traditions of the Wanapum people, grounding the day in their deep connection to the Columbia River and this landscape. Engage in enriching discussions, immerse yourself in ancestral stories, and gain a profound understanding of the Wanapum people’s enduring relationship with the land.

From there, we’ll travel to the Ginkgo Petrified Forest and the Ginkgo Interpretive Center to explore one of the most unique fossil forests in the world. Randy will unveil the geological marvels and cultural significance of this extraordinary site. For those who would like—and feel up to it—there will be an optional 30-minute hike on the petrified forest trail, located a short distance from the Interpretive Center, where you can walk among the ancient petrified trees. Others are welcome to remain at the center, continue exploring the exhibits, or relax and enjoy the views. Throughout the trip, Randy Lewis will serve as your knowledgeable and passionate guide, offering valuable insights and fostering meaningful connections with the places and stories we encounter. Reserve your spot now and prepare to be inspired by the beauty, history, and cultural richness of Washington State’s remarkable landscapes.
