What began in 2004 as a small pilot program at Columbia Elementary under the leadership of founder Jeanette Marantos has grown into a beloved regional tradition. Today, Beauty of Bronze serves every fifth grader in the Wenatchee School District, along with students at The River Academy, St. Joseph School, and the Soap Lake School District. Recently, art students at Wenatchee High School have joined the experience, crafting their own bronze treasures and further expanding the program’s reach.
Since its inception, Sultan-based artist Kevin Pettelle has served as artist-in-residence, visiting classrooms to offer encouragement, mentorship, and professional expertise. Through hands-on instruction and exposure to public sculpture, students gain a deeper understanding of the artistic process while discovering the power of creative expression.
Beauty of Bronze is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring young people through the creation of their own unique bronze sculptures. Students explore public art, participate in the full sculptural process, and celebrate their work in a culminating exhibit at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center. With the continued support of schools, families, and community partners, the program fosters creativity, connection, and pride—empowering youth to become thoughtful artists and future stewards of our region’s public art.
The 2026 Beauty of Bronze Show will be on exhibit Friday, March 6, through Saturday, April 11. This exhibit, along with the 47th Annual Regional High School Art Show, will be on display at our new temporary gallery space at 30 South Mission Street, Suite B, Wenatchee, WA.
Donations to Beauty of Bronze can be made through the Community Foundation of NCW.
