Our story was never inevitable. We shaped it at every turn.

Our inaugural exhibit opens in the Downtown Branch Art Gallery on Friday, August 7. The exhibition looks back across centuries and highlights both challenging and celebratory times from the colonial era to more recent generations. The exhibition explores five themes drawn directly from the Declaration of Independence: Created Equal; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness; Free and Independent States; Consent of the Governed; and We Mutually Pledge.

The featured moments from American history inspire curiosity about the events that shaped the nation. They remind us that our story was never inevitable, we shaped it at every turn. The exhibition was developed through a multi-state collaboration to ensure that Americans throughout the nation would have the opportunity to meaningfully engage in the nation’s 250th anniversary, while highlighting significant stories from Washington State and North Central Washington.

This exhibit will be on display starting the First Friday in August through the end of the year at the Museum’s Downtown Branch, located at 30 S. Mission Street in Wenatchee. To celebrate the new Downtown Branch and this inaugural exhibit, we’re partnering with the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce to host a ribbon cutting on Friday, August 7 from 4:00-5:00pm. We hope you’ll join us!

The Downtown Branch is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 to 4, but will be closed the week of August 17th.
