Super Summer Adventures: Session 6

July 29, 2019 @ 2:00 AM - August 1, 2019 @ 8:30 AM

Grades 1 – 5: Backyard Ballistics

If you want to throw it, fling it, shoot it, fly it or drive it, then this is the class for you. Join us in making various kinds of tools to do just that… catapults, airplanes, etc. We will compete against each other for longest distance, accuracy, or following a pre-set course.

Grades 3 – 5: LEGO Robotics II

(You must have taken LEGO Robotics 1 before taking this class) The fun continues as Lara Hays and Adam Walker get you involved with more advanced LEGO Mindstorm robotics programming to make your robot complete even cooler tasks. They will also give you a deeper understanding of competition skills which include core values, task completion, and robot design.

Grades 3 – 7: Cake and Take

Have you ever wondered how to make a cake look like it has just come from the bakery? You will use fondant, icing and piping tips to create a cake that you could enter in a baking challenge!

Grades 1 – 5: Checkmate Masters

Have you already studied the basics of chess? Join us for a more advanced week of studying one of the oldest and most popular games in the world! Learn about teamwork, build your skills, and develop more advanced strategies and tactics. Students will have a chance to participate in their own chess tournament, playing against different opponents and mastering the game. Previous enrollment in Checkmate Champions (Chess 101) or prior understanding of the basics of chess is required. Become a Checkmate Master and sign-up for your chance to take home a medal this summer!
