Come to our Awards Gala & Silent Auction April 9th!
This Saturday is our annual Awards Gala & Silent Auction and it’s a time to honor those who make a difference in our community!
Come enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and regional wines while you peruse a wide variety of silent auction items including elegant dinners, ski passes, limousine rides, family genealogy preparation and concert tickets while enjoying live music by the Glenn Isaacson Trio.
Proceeds go toward much-needed museum renovations and Museum Director Brenda Abney and Board President Grace Lynch will present awards including the Wenatchee Valley Living Treasure, Volunteer of the Year and the Dick Bell Memorial Award.
This year the Living Treasure honoree is none other than local artist Ruth Allen. Here are some of the things community members had to say about her:
“Ruth has long believed in sharing her talents and love of the arts with others and this commitment is evident with her long-standing teaching of classes at Wenatchee Valley College…. Nationally and worldwide, Ruth is also a recognized teacher of pottery.” — Kris Bassett
“Without Ruth’s volunteer work from 1966 through the 1970s as a founding member of the Riverfront Park Committee, we would have no access to the beautiful Columbia River…. She has created the beautiful and instructive museum exhibits detailing the river’s uses since the beginning of recorded time.” — Bonnie Orr
“Ruth is truly a ‘Renaissance Woman.’ I think that most people who know her only by reputation, have probably heard that she is an internationally recognized ceramics artist. Others know her as an educator, still others as a community activist and frequent volunteer. She is all those things and more…. I cannot think of anyone in North Central Washington more deserving of the award.” — Richard Congdon
Admission includes two drink tickets and it’s $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Hurry because the Gala is Saturday! You can get your tickets by calling (509) 888-6240 or at store.wvmcc.org
