Juried Art Show & Beauty of Bronze Open in December
As part of Wenatchee First Fridays, the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center always offers free admission all day, and a special reception with refreshments from 5 to 8 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 4, the museum will celebrate the opening of two new exhibits.
The North Central Washington Juried Art Show, in the Main Gallery on the ground floor, is a collection of two- and three-dimensional works by artists throughout the region. Jurors Gregg Schlanger of Ellensburg and Marita Dingus of Seattle will present cash awards to the first, second and third prize winners. Visitors are also encouraged to vote for their own favorites for the People’s Choice Award. The show is cosponsored by the Community Foundation of NCW and goes through Feb. 6, 2016.
Upstairs in the Blue Gallery is a display of hand-crafted bronze pieces by local children, as part of the Beauty of Bronze program. All fifth-grade Wenatchee School District students studied Art on the Avenues sculptures, then carved their own small pieces which were then professionally cast in bronze. This exhibit will remain through Dec. 12.
The museum is located at 127 S. Mission Street in Wenatchee. Regular hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information please call (509) 888-6240.
