A Message from the Executive Director

In November 2018 I came on board as the new Executive Director of the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center, and I am thrilled to have joined the Museum’s talented staff and dedicated volunteers. I want to sincerely thank everyone for the very warm welcome I’ve received to the Museum and to the Valley. It is clear to me that the community cares deeply about the Museum and its future.

The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center serves to promote shared knowledge, foster dialogue, and inspire curiosity. Our robust annual programming includes MakerSpace classes for adults and children, robotics clubs, educational field trips, Coyote’s Corner, art classes, summer and spring break camps, community cultural events, bus tours, educational film and lecture series, and engaging rotating exhibits. Accessibility, lifelong learning, and education are at the heart of our institution.

We are supported by the cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, our WVMCC members, and through community gifts and sponsorships. These gifts are vital to making our exhibits, events, and programs accessible to all North Central Washington residents.

In 2019, the Museum will begin an extensive, community-centered planning process that will guide the future directions of our institution, our exhibits, programs, collections, and community engagement. The 2-year planning process will help us gain an understanding of the needs in our community, and how we can best serve them. My hope is that through community dialogue and planning, we will gain real insight into what it means and takes to be truly relevant to our community; and we will move the Museum from being a community asset to truly being a community anchor.

This is such an exciting time to be at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center. I welcome you along for what will be a very engaging and fulfilling journey into the future. Join us as a member, donate to the Museum’s robust programming, and participate in our community-centered activities. Together, we will explore the challenges facing the Valley, and discover opportunities to make a difference in our community. Together, we will make a difference.

Sincerely,

Keni Sturgeon
Executive Director
