Explore Adult Classes at the WVMCC – 2/11/2025

Yoga, 3D Printing, Irish Dancing, Zine Workshop, Sculpting, and so much more!

Wenatchee, Wash. – (Friday, February 7, 2025), The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center (WVMCC) is offering a variety of classes for adults, ranging from Irish Céilí dancing, 3D printing, a zine workshop, yoga basics, and a sculpting class as part of the Beauty of Bronze program.

YOGA BASICS WITH DIANNE

Throughout February, longtime volunteer Dianne McCammon will be teaching a Yoga Basics class for all body types at the historic Wells House.

Yoga Basics is slower-paced and focuses on developing a clear and safe alignment of fundamental postures. This series of classes is designed for beginners, those recovering from injury or anyone wanting to refine their current practice. Come learn, play, and maybe even break a sweat in a supportive environment. All bodies are welcome.

Classes are between February 3-26, Mondays and Wednesdays, starting at 10 AM. There will be no class on Wednesday, February 12th. Learn more about this class series here.

IRISH CEILI DANCING

Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 4th, the WVMCC is partnering with the An Daire Academy of Irish Dance for six weeks of Irish Céilí Dance classes.

Céilí (pronounced “kay-lee”) dancing is a traditional form of Irish group dancing. Pairs or groups will dance along to lively Irish folk music, giving beginners and experts an opportunity to work together as a community. These beginner-friendly classes will teach students the basics of footwork, coordinate with a partner, and feel the rhythm of traditional Celtic folk music.

Classes are on February 4th, 12th, 18th, 25th, March 4th, and March 11th from 6:30-7:30 PM. On March 14th, classes will conclude with a celebratory dance and party. Light refreshments will be provided, with alcoholic beverages for sale for those 21+.

Instruction is designed for an adult audience. Those wishing to enroll their older child can call the WVMCC front desk at (509)-888-6240.

The entire class series costs $60 for members and $70 for non-members. Sign up for all 6 classes at a discount, or feel free to drop in and take a single class for $15 each. Pre-registration is required. Learn more about classes here.

3D PRINTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS

From Feb. 8 to March 1, explore the art of 3D-Printing down in the WVMCC MakerSpace studio!

Every Saturday between 10 AM to 2 PM, students will learn how to design parts, prepare them for printing, and operate the printer itself. Students will be led by a seasoned mechanical engineer with over 40 years of manufacturing experience. Class graduates will be eligible to craft building materials, help print repairs and foster sustainable practices through the Waste Loop’s Eastside Rebuild project.

This class series costs $75 for members and $125 for non-members. Registration is required due to limited spots. Learn more about this class series here. This class series is supported through grant funding by Microsoft and the Confluence Health and Wenatchee Valley Medical Group.

ZINE WORKSHOP

On Saturday, Feb. 15, between 2:30-5:30 PM, the WVMCC is partnering with Write On The River (WOTR) for a brand-new zine workshop.

‘Zine’ is short for ‘magazine,’ typically published in small quantities, combining written word and visual arts to communicate your own unique message. In this workshop, students will learn how to express themselves using zines, while delving into a subject matter within their own interests.

Teachers have three goals for this class: building community during group discussion, engaging with student subject matter, and learning foundational skills of graphic design with a focus on format.

Registration costs $15 for members and $25 for non-members. Members of WVMCC or WOTR are eligible for member pricing. Registration is required due to limited spots in our MakerSpace. Reserve your spot here. This event is sponsored by Write On The River.

BEAUTY OF BRONZE FOR ADULTS

On Thursday, March 27, the Beauty of Bronze program is now offering a sculpting class for adults! From 6:30-8:30 PM, professional sculptors will guide students into creating their own bronze sculpture. This two-hour class will be a relaxing opportunity to create art, learn a new skill, and support a child’s education.

This class costs $90, which includes a beverage (beer, wine, or soda), art materials, and sponsorship for one 5th-grade student.

Students will be able to take their creation home after its done casting in a local foundry. Pre-registration is required due to limited seating. Register for this new class here.
