Learn about Indonesia with our Curator of Education & Programs Jamie Johnson!
Curious what it’s really like to step outside your comfort zone for over two years? Join Jamie Johnson at the historic Wells House on Wednesday, July 2, from 6-8 PM, as she thoughtfully reflects on her time in Indonesia working for the Peace Corps, serving as a teacher and cultural ambassador on the island of Java.
After ten years as an elementary educator, Jamie set out to examine the social conditioning, biases, and generational beliefs she had inherited—hoping that life on the other side of the world might offer a new lens.
Through personal stories and unexpected lessons from village life, Jamie explores how to navigate language barriers, build cross-cultural friendships, and change her own cultural perspective. Whether you’re considering the Peace Corps, love travel, or are simply curious about your own inner wiring, this talk invites you to reflect, rethink, and reconnect in new ways.
Every First Wednesday of the month, the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural will host a free community lecture or presentation at the historic Wells House. Registration for this presentation is recommended.
The Wells House is located at the Wenatchee Valley College at 625 Nelson Avenue. Unfortunately, the Wells House is not currently ADA-accessible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
