Social Justice Forum: Dismantling Racism in Education

October 7, 2020 @ 5:00 AM - 6:00 AM

Dismantling Racism in Education
Join the Wenatchee Valley Museum and a panel of local educators on Wednesday, October 7 at 12 PM as we continue our conversation in our Social Justice Series by addressing dismantling racism in education. Sixty-six years ago, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that “separate but equal” education was unconstitutional; however, race and economic disparities continue to be barriers to education. Join us on Zoom and Facebook Live as we engage in a thoughtful, inclusive, and open-minded discussion about systemic racism in education, about the inequities this creates, and about the steps we can take to begin to break down these barriers.

PANELISTS:

Wenatchee Superintendent Paul Gordon

Wenatchee School Board Director Maria Iñiguez

Eastmont Superintendent Garn Christensen

Wenatchee Valley College MESA Program Director Dr. Karina Vega-Villa

Wenatchee Valley College Instructor Dr. Bobbi Johnson

Wenatchee Valley College Instructor Dr. Awanthi Hewage
