The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center’s online Mobile Makers Program provides virtual hands-on STEM lessons for elementary aged students – 3rd thru 5th grades. These lessons and activities, aligned with the Washington State Science Learning Standards, deliver materials and projects designed to build task-oriented problem-solving skills, teamwork and collaboration, and critical thinking skills through an age-appropriate exploration of invention and discovery. The themed projects and activities build in complexity throughout the five-week program, encouraging students to draw on skills learned to deepen their knowledge and understanding.
Registration is open now for classes beginning October 5, 2021. Teachers, please submit a Mobile Makers Program Request to schedule a program for your class.
The program is designed for grades 3-5. The program costs up to $600 per class of 20 students, and thanks to our very generous sponsors, we are able to offer a sliding scale determined by low income numbers at the school. Please contact Anna Holman for more information about program cost.
Our online Mobile Makers is delivered in five sessions over five weeks (one session per week), with sessions lasting 50-55 minutes. For Fall 2021, we will explore the theme: Engineering Design through the following weekly activities*:
Week 1: Foundations of Engineering and Design
Week 2: Engineering and energy transfer
Week 3: Principles of Flight
Week 4: Engineering in Space
Week 5: Hydraulics
*activities may vary depending on grade and WSSLS
